Layout Wiring and Electrics

04 Jul 2007 - A start has been made on wiring up the electrics that will be required for this layout. The decision was taken from the start to make use of the excellent Tortoise stall point motors. Although these motors are slightly more expensive than other stall motors they are very reliable and easy to set up. They are also supplied with two integral switches, one of which will be used on each point to control the polarity at the frog. One of the biggest problems with these Tortoise motors is their height and a full 4 inches is required in the baseboard frame. The following photograph shows the wiring at about one third complete with the motors for Points P1, P3 and P5 wired and tested.
